Search should be performed using an appropriate keyword or query to get corresponding and relevant hits. Let us work on specific topic Topic of research: The effect of yoga practice on glycemic control and other health parameters in the pre-diabetic state: A systematic review and meta-analysis. The database directory I used for my search of the article was PubMed The credibility of the search is determined by getting the hit that is exactly describing the query given by you. If the reason for your search is aptly mentioned in the query, the exact or closely related hits would tell you whether the information you need is available in the article or not. In this regard, Google scholar is a very useful search engine that retrieves the journals exactly matching the query or moderately matching with it. It is comparatively difficult to get the relevant hits in PubMed unless the query that you give is exact or almost exact. The steps I followed to find the article are as follows: 1. Form a foreground question and get the keywords A foreground question is one which deals with concepts regarding decision-making To make a foreground question, one needs to answer these: PICO Where, P stands for - Patient / Problem / Disease I stands for - Intervention (such as, drug or a test) C stands for - Comparison (another drug/placebo/test) O stands for - Outcome (which should be measurable) A keyword is a phrase in your web content that make it possible for people to find your site via search engines. 2. After forming the foreground question, open the PubMed website. 3. Choose MeSH 4. Type the keywords, one by one. 5. To add a new keyword, type the keyword in the box at your right side screen and click 'Add to Search Builder and then click 'Search' (given right below the box). 6. Apply the filters (given on the left side of your screen) While applying filter, NOTE: (i) Choose 'Meta-analysis”. It is the highest level of research as it merges multiple studies and their results. Next priority would be to Systematic Review and Randomized Control Trial (RCT) (ii) Look for "Recent” Articles

The result is: limited number of relevant research articles Summary of the article: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the effects of yoga on glycemic control, lipid profiles, body composition and blood pressure in people in the pre- diabetic state. Both Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) and non-RCT studies were included in this study. Studies included were published between Jan 2002 and Dec 2018. The results suggest that yoga intervention may be considered as a comprehensive and alternative approach to preventing T2DM. The article is credible because: It is a meta-analysis - the highest level of research The database I prefer is: PubMed as it has filters that provides easy access to relevant articles on the web. Ans: Using a database, I can find research papers that are valid, up-to-date, and relevant to my research question. This type of Evidence-based Medicine will help me professionally (to become a good medical practitioner) and will help in my personal development by making me aware of the correct treatment and research methodologies.
