Answer #1

Major 4 functions of management

  1. Planning
  2. Organizing
  3. Leading / directing
  4. Staffing
  5. Control

A good manager always discover how to master five basic functions as mentioned above . In the above case , Charlie has a excellent sales person with full of knowledge and idea but whether he is really a good manager or not .. we need to evaluate . In the above case , Cahrlie has to develop with Organizing team structure and member , He should be always aware about their movement and he needs to provide proper direction to them along with new sale idea . Without proper organizing , he can not established a proper team to meet and maintain companies sales growth.

Planning is foremost important tools in hand of manager . Charile started doing the same . He noted down his 4 member team name and area to cover . Without proper planning , forecast, he can not achieve companies sales target .

After finalizing planning OR set Goal , manager has to work on organizing the team to meet the target . Most two important area cover under Organizing – a) Assigning work and granting authority

Staffing another important area to look into by Manager – staffing mainly includes direction , coaching, training, right candidate selection etc .

Leading - Leading one of the most characteristic of manager . Leading includes motivation , communicating , guidance to team to achieve Goal

Controlling / Monitoring – Manager has to do continuous controlling and monitoring activity and review performance of each subordinate .

I think Charlie has to develop all the above managerial characteristic to set a proper sales target and meet the same . He himself has full of idea and thought but he needs to organizing , communicating among team so team can grow and meet sales target

SWOT analysis is one of the important factor to consider by manager while leading team. Every body has some sort of strength as well as weakness . We need to find out the same and work out to improve future in future .

Knowledge is one of the major strength . A manager must have good knowledge about method , process , product and market . Manager should gain knowledge on your peers , competitor product , price etc .

Manager should have a positive attitude to maintain and directing team . This is one of the strength point .

Couple of other strength- Creative thinking .. Think out of the box and stay ahead form others .

Most important step is prioritization of task and delivery accordingly.

Analytical mind – Its very useful to do analytical mind and do deep dive all matter

What will be my weakness in general –

Taking too many work at one time and not able to meet deadline – lack of importance

Sometime Interpersonal skill as well as knowledge on advanced learning ( say Machine learning ) – need to develop over the period .

Emotional at work place – being too helpful for others.
