Mr. Johansson is a 38-year-old man who suffered a left hemisphere CVA approximately 3 years ago. An MRI of Mr. Johansson’s brain revealed damage across the temporal lobe language areas extending to the inferior parietal lobe. Prior to his stroke, he was a monolingual, English speaker and worked as a handyman. He currently lives alone and his friend has brought him to the clinic today. He received 12 sessions of therapy shortly after his stroke and showed mild improvement in spoken language; however, he has come to your clinic in hopes of improving his reading and writing.

1) What type of aphasia would you expect Mr. Johansson to exhibit shortly after his stroke, given the location of damage? What would your expectations be for his fluency, comprehension, and repetition skills?
