The main purposes of a standard coding guidelines are

• To hasten the process in claiming the insurance
• Time saver if thorough with the coding
• Can be helpful to avoid any misuse,hacking for monetary purposes

It can impact the hospital's reimbursements if done incorrectly, so a high accuracy is needed in coding.This simultaneously makes the hospital to report the error or mistakes in a systemic process ,wait for approval or rejection of the report and rule out the cause .This leads to a time consuming process .It is also necessary to code separately for each procedures ,visits,etc.,this can affect the function of the hospital.
