Bulgaria is a country in central Europe that is transitioning from central planning economy towards a market-based economy.

  1. The data shows that the GNI per capita of Bulgaria is lower than avarage of central Europe. It is also much lower than US PCGNI. The country falls in middle income group according to World bank data.
  2. The life expectancy of Bulgaria is 74.6 years according to 2014 data. This is lower than that of Central Europe and the US.
  3. The percentage of population completing primary education is 95. This is marginally lower than Central Europe and the US. In this country, 74.7% of the population lives in the urban area. This figure is higher than central Europe but lower than the US where 80% of the population lives in the urban area.
  4. Bulgaria is a country with lower CO2 emission as compared to the US or Central Europe. The CO2 emission is only 5.9 metric ton which lower than central Europe (6.9 metric ton) and the US (17.0 metric ton).
