What kinds of factors do you think would make HIV occur at higher rates in certain areas of the world?
The factors influencing the higher rates of HIV in certain population groups are poverty, less education, while more then half of HIV occur amoung bisexual, heterosexuals and Persons Who Inject Drugs (PWID) also considered to be effected by HIV.
In some areas due to social and economic barriers such as lack of care, discrimination, stigma, homophobia and poverty, people of colour have more chances of HIV infection.
Socioeconomic factors increasing higher risk in effecting HIV are
1. Higher risk of infections will occur with every sexual encounter when more people living with HIV or infected with STDs, majorly when such person selects a partner within those communities.
2. There will be higher chances of aquiring and transmitting of HIV when there is higher rates of undiagnosed or untreated STDs.
3. Poverty will not allow to take proper care about health. HIV testing and medication will lower the levels of HIV in the blood, so that the person will be helped to prevent tramission risk.
4. In many communities discrimination, stigma and homophobia are too far to prevent to seek proper tests and medication.
5. Social sexual network in broader community incarceration among men are at higher rate and decreasing number of available partners for women, which can fuel the spread of HIV.
6. One last present additional prevention challenges are language barriers and concerns about immigration status.
7. HIV infection is more common among those who were umemployed and had less education.
