As we all know, the Zika virus is here in the USA and we have seen National news outlets offering multiple points of view on how we can prevent and educate the public to avoid a possible outbreak in the USA.

Based on your knowledge, readings, research, and opinion, discuss which principles of health care ethics will you apply as a Healthcare Manager to implement a community education and prevention program to address the Zika virus?

Answer:Zika virus disease is mainly caused by Zika virus which is transmitted to human by infected mosquito i.e Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. The Zika virus includes the major symptoms such as:

• Fever
• Joint pain
• Rashes

Zika virus disease causes birth defects in the infants if ihe mother is infected with the disease. Although not exact vaccination has been found for this disease only the prevention can be taken to prevent oneself from getting infected with the disease.

The ethic theories that should be implemented on the community education and prevention to address the Zika virus are:

• Paramount theory of beneficence which includes the doing good to the patients. The healthcare professionals provides education, knowledge as well as information regarding the disease, prevention and treatment. This is mainly focus on the benefits of the community as doing good to the Patients.
• Deontology ethics also can be applied as it is related to providing care to the patients where ever it is necessary.
