Answer #1

We have, P V = n R T

where, P is a pressure of a gas, V is a volume of a gas, n is no. of moles of gas, R is a gas constant and T is temperature of gas.

\therefore Partial pressure of N 2 = n R T / V = 3.55 mol \times 0.082057 L atm mol -1 K -1\times 300 K / 29.51 L

Partial pressure of N 2 = 2.96 atm

Similarly, Partial pressure of O 2 = 2.50 mol \times 0.082057 L atm mol -1 K -1\times 300 K / 29.51 L

Partial pressure of O 2 = 2.08 atm

Total pressure of sample of air = Partial pressure of N 2 + Partial pressure of O 2

= 2.96 atm + 2.08 atm

= 5.04 atm

ANSWER : 5.06 atm
