A small amount of gaseous gasoline is added into a container to mix with air (air is at 212 F). The air to fuel ratio is 14.7:1 by mass. Note that the boiling point of gasoline is ~185 F, and it becomes gas at 212 F. 90% of the mass of gasoline is isooctane and the remaining is ethanol (C2H6O). How much of isooctane and ethanol in moles has been added to the container? With the amount of gasoline added, what is the new total pressure of the container?

Note: The container has a volume of 1.00 L, the pressure of air in the container is 1.00 atm and has a molecular composition of 79% N2 and 21% O2.

moles of O2 in the container = 0.006846 mol

moles N2 in the container = 0.025754 mol

The mass of air = 0.939 g
