What are the Hormones involved in eating and what is their roles?

There are many hormones in the body. There are certain hormones which can trigger and cause hunger whereas there are certain hormones which can suppress the hunger.In simple they can be termed as hunger hormones. They are necessary to regulate what one eat and in what quantity. If it does not function properly it can either lead to malnutrition or obesity.

The hormones like ghrelin (secreted in the stomach) induces hunger or appetite and makes one to eat

The hormone named leptin makes one aware whether thet are full or not while eating. If full signals it sends message to brain and alerts to stop over eating. It is in fats and determines tte energy balance and stores

Adiponectin is essential for all the metabolic

function during food intake .It regulates the glucose and oxidizes the fatty acids.An increased level can lead to problems of anorexia nervosa

Insulin determine and controls the level of glucose, when there is decreased amount it stimulates eating to get energy
