3. A right hand dominant 45 yr old female presents to the clinic
with bilateral shoulder pain
for 1 week. She denies any specific injury. When the pain began it
was an ache in her right
shoulder. She took Aleve and Tylenol for the pain which gave her
some relief from the pain. The
next day, the pain migrated to her left shoulder. She describes the
pain as an ache 3/10 with
sharp 7/10 stabbing pain when she tries to reach her arms above her
shoulders. The pain is
localized to a spot on the anterior aspect of both shoulders and
she can point to where the pain
is the worst. She notes that over the past year she has had bouts
of joint pain and stiffness
mostly in the morning. She denies any significant past medical
history but states that both her
mother and father suffered from “some kind” of arthritis. She is
unsure what the exact name
was.
