"We do not teach what we preach, but what we are" . This quote is 1 of many words of wisdome from Florence Nightingale that still hold on true today . So staff learns most from what they see other staff do. 1 of the responsibilities of nursing professional development specialist is to serve as a role model; doing , not just saying the right things.A role model is a person looked to by others as an example .They make us want to do better things, they inspire us , motivate us, and encourage us to try a little bit harder to be a better nurse or an educator.

They help us to realise our potential.

Role models are not perfect , but they have worked through issues and been successful.

Being a role model is an important job,a registered nurse with expertise in nursing education is an example of role model who influences professional role competence and professional growth of nurses.

My mother was my 1st role model , because she always believed i could do anything i want. She encouraged me to pursue my dreams. As i studied nursing , Florence Nightingale and other nurses from history became my role models, bcz of their services, dedication, social responsibility, creativity and education focus while overcoming great obstracles.
