One of the most skipped steps in the strategic planning process is the evaluation phase. Assume that you work for a hospital that has just implemented its 5-year strategic plan and the plan has been in effect for 1 year.
From your viewpoint, what is the most appropriate way to evaluate this plan, and what time frame would you use for evaluation? Why?
Is the valuation and control process appropriate for a healthcare organization that emphasizes creativity? Are control and creativity compatible? What is an example of a creative venture for the typical acute care hospital?
Any initiative or change needs to be evaluated because then only we can find or conclude about its effectiveness . Same way , the strategic plan mentioned here has to be evaluated to find its effects on the healthcare system whether it's postive or negative .
Before implementation of any plan or any process its future goals or aim / objectives are preset which acts as a motivational to work towards it . While evaluating we have to check whether those goals are met or not . To evaluate a process or implementation do take a feedback from the people who uses it like in healthcare patients and their attendants are the best to evaluate a plan because they provide their view point regarding a health care process without any bias and free minded .
Another method to evaluate is to conduct a surveillance of the implementation . Monitoring the goals met and those which are left . Its a process done by major administrative officer which is gain bias free and totally involved in the enhancement of the healthcare provided .So, these two will be the best two methods to evaluate the plan . It will take time about 1-2 year to do all the feedback and surveillance session from a huge number of population because a feedback from 20 -50 people is not enough to make a ethical decisions about the attainment of goal from the implementation of strategic plan . It needs a huge number of support to get verified .
It will also help to make amendments in the plan by getting creative ideas from the feedback of patient and surveillance and it will make it more clear that what actually a patient needs Creativity make things more compatible than control. Like for example using cabbage leaves to resolve breast engorgement is a creative venture in healthcare care and it's effective.
