20. Discuss the major provisions of the Clean Air Act. What are your thoughts on the law? Do you think it should have been extended to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, rather than just traditional pollutants (like cancer causing chemicals), or should climate change have been dealt with by a separate law of its own?

Clean Air act

Clean Air Act was passed by U.S. federal law in 1970 and later amended, to prevent air pollution and thereby protect the ozone layer and promote public health. It placed the Environmental Protection Agency in charge of monitoring and improving the nation's air quality

Provisions of the Clean Air Act

• Establishing research programs
• Setting clean air standards
• Providing technical and financial assistance to state and local government efforts toward reducing air pollution
• Creating and Enforcing rules and regulation

I believe that the law is very important and necessary today due to global warming and the high emissions which impact the environment and quality of the Air.It was also important to inform  the public about the hazards of air pollution and detailed new emissions standards.

Another thing which I believe is rather than bringing new law for Greenhouse emission the Government can amend this law for the climate change and Greenhouse emission as well as everything will be under one roof and it will be easy to manage the things and introduce new rule. Also making procedures and implementing this procedures will be easy. Keeping watch over this can save time and money and can help minimise the emission more effectively.
