Ans:- Roles of nurse in monitoring patients who are taking drugs for bacteria infection are as follows:-

1. Before giving medication nurse should ensure that patients are not showing any hypersensitivity towards the antibiotics.

2. Many antibiotics causes GI upset so nurse should ensure that patients are taking medication after eating food.

3. Patients should be instructed to take antibiotics exactly as prescribed and for length of time prescribed.

4. Nurse should assess the signs and symptoms of super infection like:- fever, cough, lethargy , etching and unusual discharge.

5. For safety reasons should check the name of medication thrice.

6. Nurse should be careful for any signs of side effect like nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

7. Each classes of antibiotics have their specific side effects so nurse should be specific for the signs and symptoms.
