Answer #1

The force acting for same amount of time imparts same momentum I = F*t

momentum of cart = M*V

Vo = I/M

if mass is doubled velocity gets halved

V = I/2M = Vo/2

Hence option b is correct

    A constant force is exerted on a cart that is initially at rest on an air track.  Friction between the cart and the track is negligible.  The force acts for a short time interval and gives the cart a certain final speed. To reach the same final speed with a force that is twice as much as the first mentioned force, the new force must be exerted on the cart for a time interval that is A. half as long as the...

    p mv 6. A 0.5 kg blue dynamics cart is moving with an initial velocity of -2 m/s when it collides with a 0.25 kg red dynamics cart. The red cart is initially moving with a velocity of +4 m/s. As a result of the collision, the blue dynamics cart has a final velocity of +0.8 m/s. What is the final velocity of the red cart? 7. Starting from rest, a 1600 kg car is subject to a net force...

    4. Newton's Third Law You will now attempt to measure the forces objects exert on each other when the objects interact and the effects those forces have on the motion of the objects. In this section, you will use both force sensors on two carts and conduct a series of force measurements during (gentle) tug-of-war tests. 4.1: Suppose you have two carts, A and B. Both are made of the same material, and B is more massive (heavier) than A....

    answer all please 1 If a 71-kg astronaut at rest in space throws a ball with mass 0.61 kg at a speed of 12 mph. What happens to the astronaut as a result? 4 A moving ball collides elastically with another ball that is twice as heavy and is initially at rest.
