Answer #1

ANSWER.

* Calculation of mcg/kg/min the client is receiving.

      Formula

Volume = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

Desired dose = volume * Dose in hand / Quantity.

      Here

           Volume(ml) = 48 ml.

Dose in hand = 10 mg.

              Quantity = 10 ml.

As per formula

             Desired dose = 48 * 10 / 10

                                   = 48 mg/hr.

Convert mg value to mcg for calculation

        So

               Desire dose = 48000 mcg / hr.

                                   = 800 mcg/min.

Weight of the patient = 176 pounds.

Convert pound value to kg for calculation.

                  1 kg = 2.205 pound.

       So

Weight of the patient = 79.8 kg.

mcg/kg/min required for this patient = 800 / 79.8

                                                          = 10.02 mcg/kg/min.

* Calculation of amount of medication remain for infusion.

         Rate of infusion = 85 ml/hr.

Total amount of solution = 265 ml.

     Amount of solution infused by 2 hr = 85 * 2

                                                            = 170 ml.

So

Amount of solution remaining for infusion = 265 - 170

                                                                      = 95 ml.

* Calculation of amount(ml) of drug need to be administered.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

          Here

               Desired dose(D) = 4 mg.

               Dose in hand(H) = 2 mg.

                   Quantity(Q) = 1 ml.

     As per formula

        Amount(ml) drug need to be administered = D/H * Q

                                                                     = 4/2 *1

                                                                       = 2 ml.
