Answer #1

WEIGHT OF THE CLIENT = 72.4 KG

CALCULATING THE DRUG DOSE NEEDED IN HOUR IN MILIGRAMS

50 MG ( AVAILABLE DOSE) / 250 ML ( DILUTION ) = X ( NEEDED DOSE) / 75 ML

50 MG / 250 ML = X / 75 ML

250 * X = 50 * 75

250 X = 3750

X = 3750 / 250

X = 15 MG / HOUR

TO CALCULATE , MG / HOUR INTO MCG / MIN

1 MG = 1000 mg

15 MG = 15000 mcg

1 HOUR = 60 MIN

mcg / min = 15000 mcg / 60 min

= 250 mcg/min

weight of the client is 72.4 kgs

The dose that is to be given to the patient according to the weight is

= DOSE / WEIGHT

= 250 mcg / min / 72.4 kgs

=  3.45 mcg/ kg / min ( rounding to the nearest tenth)

=  3. 5 mcg / kg / min.

The client will receive 3.5 mcg/ kg/ min .
