Answer #1

ANSWER.

15) Flow rate of antihypertensives in mL/hr.

             Flow rate = Volume(ml)/Time(hr)

Volume of Nifidipine for this patient.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

         Ordered dose = 3mcg/kg/min.

Convert 3mcg to mg for calculation

                    3mcg = 0.003 mg.

Weight of the patient = 82 kg.

           Desired dose for this patient(D) = 0.003 * 82

                                                              = 0.25 mg/min

                Dose in hand (H) = 50 mg.

                                         Quantity(Q) = 250 ml.

    As per formula

Volume of Nifidipine for this patient = 0.25/50 * 250

                                                                   = 0.005 * 250

                                                                 = 1.25 ml/min.

        ml/min converted to ml/hr by mutiply with 60 min(1hr).

               So

                 Flow rate(mL/hr) = 1.25 * 60

                                                 = 75 mL/h.
