Nursing intervention:
- Assess airway for patency
-Encourage patient to cough and maintain a proper position to cough to bring out the sputum.
- Provide humidified oxygen and monitor ABG, carboxyhemoglobin levels and pulse oximeter.
2, Restoring fluid and electrolyte balance:
- Monitor I&O every 8 hours
- check the patient serum electrolyte level.

- Assess environmental whether
- check the patient temperature and any symptoms for hypothermia
- in case of hypothermia use warming devices like radiant warmer to avoid hypothermia.
- avoid infection by strict aseptic technique.
4, Minimizing pain and anxiety:
- assess patient pain level and psychological condition.
- Administer opioids to relieve pain as per doctor orders
- create a mutual relationship with the patient and administer anxiolytic with analgesic drugs to relieve pain, tension, and fear.
