Answer: The PrEP is the pre-exposure prophylaxis. It is a kind of drug course consumed by the people to prevent infection in the HIV negative people. It is a drug course which is taken before the infection to prevent the occurrence of disease. This course is taken by the people who are at high risk of developing HIV disease.

One of the example is the Truvada, which is approved for the PrEP. It is a combination of tenofovir as well as emtricitabine.

The side effects includes:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Joint pain
  • Depression.
