The leaf cutter ants are a group of ants that carry fresh cut leaves, flowers and grass to their ant nests. Leaf cutter ants share a symbiotic relationship with the fungi.
Leaf cutter ants collect and carry fresh cut leaves, flowers and grass to their home. This collection of leaves helps the fungus to grow. In return the fungus growing on the leaves acts as a food source for the ants larvae. The ants help the fungus grow and flourish by providing them with leaves, clearing out the dead, decaying organic matter and protecting with any kinds of pests. Ants also eat the leaf sap. The relationship between the ants and fungi is symbiotic as both are being benefited by each other and no harm is being done to any. The ants help the fungi to grow and flourish and takes care of fungi needs. The fungi in return acts as a food source for the growing ant larvae.
