1.Giemsa-stained peripheral blood smear,,Wrights stain and

Giemsa stain- Blood exudates used.it is used when intracellular structures are to be examined.it stains tissue and blood cells showing blue intracellular parasites or fungi ,with a halo around them.

Wrights stain

Blood is used.it stains leukocytes,erythrocytes as well as protozoans or microfilaria.

Thin film

A blood specimen collected from the patient is spread as thick or thin blood smear ,stained with a Romanovsky stain,and examined with a 100 xoil immersion objective.It helps in identifying species such as falciparum,vivax ovale.

Thick film

It helps in identifying malarial parasite but not species.
