1.In TLC compounds are separated based on the principle of
adsorption, their polarity and solubility of the compound.
When a mixture containing two compounds are run in TLC then the
more polar compound binds the stationary phase more strongly than
the less polar compound. Hence different compound travel at a
different speed in the TLC plate and they get separated. Less polar
compound travel more distance than the more polar compound in a
particular solvent system.
2. UV lamp is required to see UV visible compounds' spots which are otherwise not visible via naked eyes
3. We must use pencil because pencil is made of graphite and it's not soluble in organic solvents whereas pen ink are organic mixture hence they will dissolve in solvents and spoil the TLC plate.
QUESTIONS 1. In your own words, explain how the components of a mixture are separated during...
Instructor approval Read the lab report. Date: 1. Define the following terms in your own words. a. Chromatography b. analgesic 2. Draw structural formulas of the following compounds. Circle and identify the are present in each compound. mg compounds. Circle and identify the functional groups that a. Aspirin b. Ibuprofen c. Acetaminophen d. Caffeine 11-1
I need help with my pre and post lab questions. The three compounds below were spotted on a TLC plate and developed to give the TLC plate shown. Which compound corresponds to which spot? Calculate the Rf value for spot B in the TLC plate shown above. When using polarity to determine the relative rates at which organic compounds travel up the TLC plate, we are considering compounds of similar molecular weight. It should also be noted that Rf values...
Classify and breifky explain the different patterns of genetic inheritance in humans Questions for the Thin Layer Chromatography Laboratory 1. Why can't you use a pen to mark the origin of a TLC plate? Be explicit in your answer. 2. You were impatient to see how long it would take for your sample to resolve on the TLC plate, so you constantly removed the top from the chamber. Please explain why this is an incorrect practice. 3. What happens when...
Explain in your own words the meaning of each of the following words. Discuss how they are related to the concepts of gas exchange. (At least one full page.) Ischemia Infarction Anoxia
please explain with your own words!! 1. Discuss two of the world religions in terms of Diamond's list of the functions of religion. How does each of the two religions fulfill each of the functions? (World religions in alphabetical order: Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Shintoism.) Be sure to indicate which two religions you are discussing.
control systems Explain and describe in your own words how knowing the locations of the poles in the s-domain of a transfer function lets you know whether a system will be stable or unstable. pleases dont just copy and paste a old anwer.
Response Questions Part A To B A) Use Your Own Words For Your Response: What is the law of supply? Give an example of how you have observed the law of supply at work. What is the relationship between the law of supply and the supply curve? B) Use Your Own Words For Your Response: How do markets coordinate the independent decisions of buyers and sellers?
1. Explain in your own words why regulation is important. I would like you to use 2 examples, one from human communities and one from the human body in your explanation. Make sure to include how regulation is enabled in each case (i.e. how is communication occurring?). I will give you an example, so that you know what I am looking for. When you drive a car and approach an intersection, you will receive a signal (communication) that tells you...
discuss and explain in your own words how perceived severity and perceived susceptibility is understood. Also, explain what are the potential motivators for the individuals to change
Explain the loanable fund's theory in your own words including a discussion of the demand and supply curves for loanable funds, and their shapes and reason for these shapes, and how the equilibrium interest rate is determined. Include in your explanation the parties that are the net suppliers and the parties that are the net demanders of loanable funds. Also, discuss in detail the factors that affect the supply of loanable funds and the factors that affect the demand for loanable funds...
