Ans. Elderly abuse can be defined as a single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there us an expectation of trust which causes harm or distress to an older person. Elderly abuse can take various forms such as financial,physical, psychological and sexual. It can also be the result of intentional or unintentional neglect.

Data for the articles are from the 2005 michigan survey of households with family members receiving long term care services. A cross sectional random digital survey of michigan adults however knowledgeable relatives of, or adult responsible for, a person in long term care, long term care was defined as paid help of any kind to do normal daily activities delivered in any of the following settings nursing home, adult poster care, paid assistance in the home, assistance from a health care agency, hospice, and assisted living facilities.
