Answer #1

ANSWER.

1) Calculation of number of tablet required.

         Ordered dose = ASA grain X q4hr.

                  1 grain = 65 mg.

                  X = 10 grains.

      So

         Ordered dose = 65 * 10

                                = 650 mg.

          Available dose = 300 mg /tab.

Number of tablet required = Ordered dose/Available dose.

                                            = 650 / 300

                                            = 2.16

= 2 tablet and 0.16 mg of one tablet.

2) Calculation of amount(ml) of drug administered.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

    Here

         Desired dose(D) = 8 mg.

         Dose in hand (H) = 20 mg.

             Quantity (Q) = 2 ml.

As per above formula

      Amount(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                     = 8/20 * 2

                                                     = 0.4 * 2

                                                     = 0.8 ml.

3) Calculation of amount(ml) of drug administered.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

    Here

          Desired dose (D) = 50 mg.

          Dose in hand (H) = 250 mg.

              Quantity(Q) = 10 ml.

As per above formula

      Amount(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                    = 50/250 * 10

                                                    = 0.2 * 10

                                                    = 2 ml.

4) Calculation flow rate.

      Flow rate(gtt/min) = Volume(ml) /Time(min) * Drop factor (gtt/ml).

   Here

          Volume(ml) = 1500 ml (1.5L).

          Time(min) = 720 min.

          Drop factor(gtt/ml) = 20 gtt/ml.

As per above formula

     Flow rate(gtt/min) = 1500 / 720 * 20

                                   = 2.08 * 20

                                   = 41.6 gtt/min.

5) Calculation of volume(ml) of drug required.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

   Here

      Desired dose (D) = 300000 U.

      Dose in hand (H) = 600000 U.

        Quantity(Q) = 1 ml.

As per above formula

      Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                    = 300000/600000 * 1

                                                    = 0.5 * 1

                                                    = 0.5 ml.
