19. 1) Acne - Acne vulgaris is characterized by papules, pustules, comedones, and nodules in sebaceous glands or pores mainly distributed on the face, neck, back, and chest. Comedones are categorized into closed (whiteheads) and open (blackheads) without inflammation. Whereas, raised bumps with inflammation are papules and pustules. Nodulocystic acne is evident and the nodules are greater than 5 mm in diameter.
19. 2) Contact dermatitis is also called as contact eczema. It is characterized by an itchy red rash on the skin caused by direct contact to an allergen. It can be uncomfortable but not a life-threatening nor a contagious infection. The etiological factors include perfumes, soaps, jewelry, cosmetics, and plants. Usually, it was self-diagnosable.
19. 3) Psoriasis is a chronic integumentary condition which is caused by the autoimmune system. It causes white scaly patches on the skin which is also itchy and sometimes with red or silver patches. The most common treatment includes steroid topical ointments. Light therapy is used to treat the scales on the skin. It is non-contagious.
19. 4) Squamous cell carcinoma has a wide range of clinical presentations. The physical examination on inspection of the integumentary system can be found with ulcerative, hyperkeratotic, rough, nodular lesions with papules. To confirm the diagnosis skin biopsy is needed. It usually occurred in the sun-exposed areas like the face, neck, ears, lips, and hands.
