Answer #1

Cystic fibrosis is an autosomal recessive genetic disease of secretory epithelia that affect function of lungs which causes respiratory failure. It also affect other organs like liver, pancreas, small intestine, and sweat glands where the secretory epithelia is present in the body.

The effect of cystic fibrosis in lungs

Excess thick secretion of mucus and obstruction of airways are the main features of cystic fibrosis along with neutrophilic inflammation without any active infection. The impaired mucociliary clearance and increased viscosity of the mucus layer leads to mucus plugging and inflammation of the airways. This cause destruction of the lung tissue and difficulty in breathing. This reduce the capacity of lung tissue to take up oxygen during breathing which leads to decreased oxygen supply to the body organs or  hypoxia( lack of oxygen in tissue level).
