If one were to touch the sphere momentarily (and ground it) when it is near the charged plate, what kind of net charge (positive, negative, or none) is left on the sphere and explain how this happens.

charging a conductor is called charging by induction.if the conducting sphere touched the ground it the excess negative charge start flowing towards the conductor from the Teflon plate. so, the Teflon plate becomes positive by giving charges.
