Answer #1

9) Ordered dose of heparin = 80 unit/ kg

Available dose of heparin = 5000 unit / ml

Patient weight = 115 lbs

1 lbs = 0.4535 kg

115 lbs = 0.4535 × 115 = 52.16 kg

Required dose of heparin as per patient weight = 80 unit/ kg × 52.16 kg = 4172.8 unit

5000 unit is present in 1 ml

So, for 4172.8 unit = 1ml÷5000 unit × 4172.8 unit = 0.83456 ml

Hence, 0.834 ml of heparin will be administered.
