Health care issues turn into law in many ways. Usually, a new debate in health care surfaces and then the controversy leads to the formation of a law. But how exactly does this happen? Sometimes a health issue is supported by a lobby group. Some issues start as a means to correct problems in patient care. Some health laws are created from public advocacy.

Regardless, should these current approaches in place today be considered "best practice?" Defend your yes/no stance. Share your thoughts on how health care issues become law. Try to point to a specific example. Do you approve of this process? Evaluate how this plan can be improved, support with specific examples. Please explain and then interact with another student's views.

Republicans have shown willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve goals of less federal spending on health care and lower taxes; Democrats have, conversely, displayed a similar approach to get to the goal of more widely available insurance..

In 2009, the Obama administration was focused on cobbling together the votes for a program to expand the availability of insurance, through any path it could find.

That meant negotiating with the health insurance industry to keep its central role in the United States health care system, even as some on the left wing of the Democratic Party would have preferred shifting to a single-payer system in which the government would supplant private insurers.

It meant including the tax increases that Republicans now seek to repeal in order to keep the proposal from blowing out the budget deficit, soothing deficit hawks.

The Affordable Care Act included other provisions that angered some on the left, such as a so-called Cadillac tax (disliked by labor unions) on expensive health insurance plans, and a powerful board focused on reducing the growth of Medicare costs over time.

Congress and the Obama administration did an extensive back-and-forth with health policy experts and the C.B.O. to figure out which tweaks to the various subsidies in the bill would do the most to expand coverage.

Essentially, in the Affordable Care Act debate the Obama administration and Congress rejected a major overhaul that some liberals would have preferred in favor of a gradualist approach that didn’t disrupt existing industries but did result in a large expansion of health insurance availability and federal subsidies.

One hope was that this strategy would not only help the Affordable Care Act pass in the first place but would also make it more resilient no matter which direction the political winds might shift. Sure enough, the health insurance industry, hospital and doctors’ groups, and other major interests oppose the Republican plan.

The health sector is on track in 2009 to spend more on lobbying than it has on any other year in U.S. history and by a lot, which analyzes and collects lobbying and campaign spending figures."Health care is supposed to be a personal issue that addresses the issues of individual Americans, but now it's addressing drug and insurance industry concerns.  lobbying and advertising are guaranteed by the Constitution. And several big spenders, such as the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, say they're educating not advocating for any particular bill.

When we are investigating some times the lobbying may help to support the current issues that result in best practice.

*As Americans, we live in a nation in which many citizens are without health insurance, yet health care expenditure is amongst the highest in the world. In order to reform such an ineffective system,government commitment (whether on a state or federal level) is imperative. Issues associated with current health policy are related to access to care, cost of care, and quality of care.

Access to care Many citizens feel that health care should be a right, and thus allcitizens should have access to health care. The debatable topic, however, in which health care services should be included in basic care. Current national programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare focus on providingcare to the most needy, which are the elderly, disabled, and povertystricken. There are many bills that have been passed by state and federal governments in an attempt to rectify this obvious problem in health policy. One primary example of this is the Affordable Care Act. In March 2010, Congress passed the Affordable Care Act that was supported by PresidentObama. The health care law seeks to extend health care to over 30million Americans, primarily by expanding access to Medicaid and reducing expenditure on Medicare. While there were challenges faced on many of the law’s provisions, it was recently upheld in the Supreme Court and will continue to roll forward.
