Mass, m1=1500 kg

Mass, m2=1400 kg

Velocity, u1=17 m/s

Velocity, u2=0

We know, according to Conservation of Momentum,

M1*u1 + M2*u2= (M1+M2)*v

Substitute values,

1500*17 + (1400*0)=(1500+1400)*V

So, speed, v= 8.79 m/s (Ans)
