NAOH EtoNa + H2O H20 EtOH + NAOH HC) + Cort H2O to + H2o teloIn first step we will get lactone and ethoxide as a byproduct which will get protonated in work up.

Second step is ester hydrolysis step where we will get acid as a product along with ethanol and NaOH as a byproduct.

In step 3 carbon dioxide will get released and we will get lactone as a product along with water and HCl as a byproduct.
