Answer: When a patient undergoes the chemotherapy, he suffers pain, that pain is managed by giving opioids. The opioids acts as analgesic and provide relief to the patient. The opioids are generally given half and hour before the chemotherapy. But at present the opioids that is used for pain relief also causes opioids crisis. As people are using it for the drug abuse, the main purpose of the opioids is to act as a pain killer but it is now being abused.

Though it has turned a much-needed spotlight on the over-prescription of these medications, it is overshadowing their under prescription among people who really need them, especially those with cancer. As two third of the individual suffering from cancer have chronic pain but unable to receive the pain medication.
