Should the people's of the world accept that extreme/severe weather events are the "new normal"?

Hurricane Harvey is already identified as one of the ten most expensive storms in the history of the United States, with estimated financial damage ranging from US$ 10 billion to US$ 20 billion. Among the ruins is the oil and gas infrastructure, and investors are watching the effect on the energy and insurance markets. Weather-dependent decisions on where to deploy, build and grow. But they are gradually becoming so. Extreme weather events such as Harvey can only be characterized as' unprecedented' so many times before businesses and governments are forced to accept and schedule such events as the new normal.

These proposals are tougher and more complex than the simplistic broad-brush argument frequently quoted on the need to respond to global warming. This is partly a matter of resources: the world is a big place, the future is endless, and there is not enough computing power to go around. It's partly political, with the few late adopters still offering a false flag to rally around those who prefer inaction and obstruction. And partly because the climate services field as the field of such detailed projections is known is at the forefront of a cultural switch that sees science listening to the questions of society, rather than simply offering answers.
