1. Mini Case Study: Suppose that, in the future, most jobs will be bid upon by groups of people that are all self-employed. For example, a group might form to design a building, create a marketing strategy for a new product, or complete a surgery. Groups will form specifically to complete a project, and once the project is completed, the groups disband (though the same people may cooperate again on another project).

  1. Describe how such groups might select group members and design effective and efficient procedures for accomplishing tasks.
  2. What impact would you expect to find on management? On job analysis? On legal issues?

Be specific in your answer.

Answer #1

The group might select its members by selecting a few interested individuals willing to work on the project and are highly efficient and experienced in doing different tasks. To design an effective and efficient procedure, it is to consider that the group members will be experts in their fields and jointly they will be accomplishing a task which involves a multidisciplinary approach.

This will highly make the management of the group a daunting task, this is because there is no central authority that will be able to manage the temporary groups working on projects. The job analysis can be done through a survey because the individual group members still act an individual with their levels of satisfaction regarding work and their performance. There will be legal issues and this new form of group dynamics will require a new form of legislation and rules to accommodate the different issues that might arise from such temporary groups.
