Answer #1

Solution:

Step 1:

Ordered dose of elixir = 35% of alcohol

Available dose = 10%of alcohol elixir and 75% of alcohol elixir

Step 2:

75 - 35 = 40 parts 10% 8 (reduced to 5 parts)

35 - 10 = 25 parts 75% 5

Total 65 parts 13 (reduced part)

Step 3:

Calculate the strength of 75% of alcohol elixir

5 / 13 = X/1000

13X = 5000

X = 384.6

Step 4:

Calculate the strength of 10% of alcohol elixir

8 / 13= x/ 1000

13x = 8000

X = 615.3

Step 5:

384mL of 70% alcohol elixir and 615.3 mL of 10% alcohol elixir are mixed to form 1000mL of 35% alcohol elixir solution.
