Medication administration is the prime role of a nurse. Any mistake in it can endanger patient's life in many cases. When medical professional notices or identifies that a wrong dosage is administered to the patient, the following thing has to be done

  • Inform and alert the nurse that a wrong dosage is set in the electronic pump.To verify it the patient's prescription orders can be shown,
  • If the nurse lack knowledge regarding the device and its operation, then it can be taught to them and make the correction.
  • If the nurse doesn't bothers to hear ,then the supervisor or the nurse in charge has to be reported about the incident to prevent complications to patients and legal consequences to the healthcare professionals in future.
