Answer #1

Thomas Hobbes was an English conservative political theorist who gave the famous political theory of ‘Social contract’ according to him, hundreds of years ago, in the uncivilized world man used to live in a state of nature, where all men were equal in status but the never-ending vicious human desires and ambitions led to a social conflict which led to a lot of wars, bloodshed, and barbarism.

To overcome this, humans developed a society of governing body, where people elected their own government, by doing this the general population had given up their right to govern themselves.

Now, according to Hobbes, since people willingly selected governing body for themselves, so now they don’t have any right to protest and object to the way government is working, because this would eventually lead to a revolt which in turn would perpetuate in civil war and we would be retuning back to our savagery way of life.

This clearly shows that Hobbes was in favor of people respecting and being obedient and submissive to the authoritarian government, and didn’t believed in free speech and the people’s right to question their authorities.
