Diamonds are made up of pure carbon and also some impurities.Diamond is a hardest substance in crystal form and a non metal . Diamond and graphite exhibit same physical state, and examples of allotrophes.Diamond serves numerous purposes like cutting , sawing in industries , used in ornaments. The specific gravity of diamond is 3.52.

The components of diamonds are:

  1. Diamond is made up of carbon,  each carbon atom is covalently bonded to four other carbon atoms
  2. Nitrogen in trace amounts as an impurity .
  3. Boron is present in trace amounts in diamond (Type 2-A diamonds)
  4. Hydrogen present diamonds are called Type 2-A diamonds
