Answer: Before the transfusion, some of the test are performed such as:

  • Complete blood count: This test is generally performed to check about the complete details of blood, white blood cells, red blood cells, platelet as well as neutrophils.
  • Blood group matching: This test is done to know that the blood that needed to be transfused should match with the recipient.
  • Rh factor: This is one of the major test performed to know about the donor as well as recipient Rh factor.
  • Antibodies and cross matching: This is generally performed to know that the donor and recipient blood is compatible.
