In my personal opinion two of the best practices/tips for working with Excel spreadsheets are:

(i) Text to columns: Using this option we can convert the content any text files into a fixed width spreadsheet. For example if there is a *.csv file full of data, then we can delimit the content of that file based on specific characters (for example, tab, comma, semicolon, etc.) to a fixed width spreadsheet. We can do this from Data --> Text to columns in Excel. This option provides:

(a) Better visibility,

(b) Good orientation,

(c) Makes the data structured.

(ii) Selection: Excel provides a lot of flexibility in data selection. We can select the entire data of the spreadsheet using CTRL + Shift + *. We can select till the end of the current row using CTRL + Shift + End and the end of the current column using CTRL + Shift + Down. This trick is useful while selecting specific data from a large file.
