Answer #1

5. The required dose per day is 45 mg/ kg body weight in 3 divided doses

66 pounds = 30 kilograms (divide pounds with 2.2 to convert into kgs)

Ceclor 45 mg \times 30 = 1350 mg per day

1350 \div 3 = 450 mg per dose

Required medication = required dose \times available volume \div available dose

                                  = 450 \times 75 \div 9375

                                  = 3.6 ml

6. An average adult BSA is 1.73 m2

Child's dose = BSA \times adult dose \div 1.73

                    = 0.55 \times 500 \div 1.73

= 158.9 mg or can be rounded to 159 mg

Required medication = required dose \times available volume\div available dose

                                  = 159 \times 100 \div 5000

= 3.18 or can be rounded to 3.2 ml

7. An average adult BSA is 1.73 m2

Child's dose = BSA \times adult dose \div 1.73

                    = 1.2 \times 25 \div 1.73

                    = 17.3 mg
