But in congenital heart diseases the weight of the baby grows slow due to increased caloric needs.

So the mother need to give breast milk 8- 12 times a day and observe for gulping and swallowing.

In general when compared to bottle fed babies , breast fed babies have more weight gain . So exclusive bteast feeding is essential to improve weight of the baby even in night times also.

Some babies with regular feeding feels difficult because the baby swallows air during feeding as it induce vomitings.

So soft nipples which is available in market is used for feeding that need to be sterilized.
