Stock Screener is a kind of tool used to filter the stocks of companies in accordance with the cistomised and pre-defined metrics. It helps you to find out the stocks with better growth or better ROi or cheaper stocks based on the metrics used to filter the stocks. Furthermore it can help a trader to know the direction of the stock market as it uses lots of technical analysis and therby it guides us to the probable expected price.

With respect to your second question, there are various stock screeners available in the market along with many features. In some of the stock screener, one can easily view top gainers and top loser stocks for the day or you can view open vs close stocks or the stocks with open gap of 2%, 3% or 5% etc just by inputting the figures respectively
