According to Holmes free trade in ideas stands for thoughts to get accepted in the competition of the market. That regulatory and censorhip reduces free flow of ideas and marketplace of ideas uses competition to judge truth and acceptability. That the best of truth could be attained when there is freedom to trade in ideas which will increase when there is acceptance of ideas dependant on competition. Compeittion ultimately increases market power and say in the market.

Political correctness stands for terms which are aimed at avoiding offense so that groups are not disadvantaged. Spreading too many doctrines according to holmes reduces freedom of speech and that people would suffer more from restriction on their speech and reduce free trade in ideas. Too much political correctness to please everyone ultimately reduces freedom of speech and independence.
