Please help me write some comment on their post based on what their article as well as their summary.

For my second journal topic I decided to do a summary on the NURSING ETHICS INTO THE NEXT MILLENNIUM: A CONTEXT-SENSITIVE APPROACH FOR NURSING ETHICS. This article begins by discussing why it is so important for the new generations of nurses to understand the importance of ethical nursing. This is very prevalent with new medical procedures that are available, such as genetic testing or cloning. This journal goes in depth on a couple major topics; contextual sensitivity, International nursing collaboration, and Everyday nursing practice.

The first topic, on contextual sensitivity, begins by explaining what the framework of contextual sensitivity looks like, “A context-sensitive framework, according to Selya Benhabib, allows for the existence of both principled morality and context-sensitive judgement; but, unlike traditional principled universalism, which assumes morally binding maxims upon which everyone can agree, interactive universalism is an intersubjective procedure” ( K Lützén, pg. 220). K Lützén explains that the work of Gilligan “inspires” other nurse researchers to look into ethical decision-making. As well as K Lützén believes that Gilligan’s work looks into contextual relativism, and diving deeper into the responsibility within personal relationships.

The second topic, international nursing collaboration, K Lützén begins by discussing why it would be inappropriate to have specific standards of ethical principles on every situation. For example K Lützén states, “ Applying ethical principles which build on the idea of democracy makes no sense in countries that do not have a political tradition that supports the respecting of patients’ rights. Similarly, individualism (the cornerstone of western nursing) may often be inappropriate in a country where the concept of individual rights does not exist because each person must always act in the interest of the larger group” (K Lützén, pg.222). The journal then goes into the different case studies that further proved the point that every culture is different, as far as ethics are concerned. The journal talked about Kohlberg’s theory, pedagogy in a school, and interviewing of the older population in Bangladesh.

Finally, the journal discussed everyday nursing practice. This section covers the “ethics” that nurses are taught in literature. According to K Lutzen nurses do not always follow the literature as they should, nurses sometimes have to use past experiences and intuition to make a ethical decision. “ Contrary to the notion that mature ethical competency is the ability to apply abstract and universal principles to concrete situations, nurses use their intuition and feelings based on experience in a context-sensitive manner. Viewing the individual patient as a unique person, and responding to his or her individual needs in sickness and in health promotion, are the areas of concern for nurses. Seeing the whole rather than the parts in a synthetic manner is a type of nonlinear reasoning, guided by previous experience” (K Lutzen, pg.222). Lutzen then gives some examples of this thought, “The concept of autonomy, for example, is inappropriate in situations where there is little or no choice because of medical reasons or because of priorities made at the organizational level’’ (K Lutzen, pg.222). Lutzen explains that it is not the concept of autonomy that is the struggle of nurses, but rather the “how” to implement the concept is the challenging part.

This journal was great at giving an inside look on nursing in the modern world. This journal allows the reader to see both sides of ethics in nursing, from understanding why we use concepts from literature, to understanding that sometimes the best thing to do it use your gut and understand why some of the decisions are best for the patient. This journal also explains why ethics is a very broad term, especially when looking at ethics over nations. Nurses need to understand who they are talking to, and where that person comes from and that their decisions may be solely on their cultural norms.

The article which you have given on the top is very important to this world and the nursing service.The ethical nursing is the most useful term which we have to use on nursing service. the context of nursing is based on the ethical nursing only.Continuing education in ethics and addressing health system deficiencies will enhance nurses’ professional development and their ethical decision-making and practice.the article tells about the need of ethical as well as a better nursing service.the terms which they have used above that is contextual sensitivity, International nursing collaboration, and Everyday nursing practice is become the basic of ethic nursing the first topic they introducing K Lützén to the topic which helps uds to understand more about to look into ethical decision-making .They try to prove that the principled universalism is more likely anot a better way for the context sensitive framework. But when we are talking about the interactive universalism this comes with lesser complications . the second topic clearly tells about to have specific standards of ethical principles on every situation.this is followed by reasonable examples. finaly they talks about the most basics of the ethical nursing that is every day nursing practise .It clearly tells about the difference in practical and theory in day to day life theory always does not works but it helps .When the experience always walks above the theory.this article is always based and stared at the ethical nursing
