The sodium bicarbonate from the pancreas helps to neutralize the acidic chyme and the bile from the gall bladder acids in the digestion of fat.
Here the proteins from the duodenum and the carbohydrate from the blood in the small intestine are absorbed into the epithelial cells and transported directly into the blood because protein and carbohydrate are water-soluble nutrients.
The lipids in the hamburger are not water-soluble and must be circulated in the absorptive cells in the small intestine before reaching the bloodstream.
The undigested materials from the small intestine are delivered to the first part of the large intestine known as the feces.
There is one more ileocecal valve sperate the small intestine from the large intestine.
