  • To produce bile
  • secrete glucose from gluconeogenesis
  • storing glucose as glycogen and other nutrients
  • it secretes digestibe enzyme and empties in duodenum
  • The bile produced by it is stored in gall bladder and emptied into small intestine
  • It metabolises  the drugs,alcohol ,carbohydrates, protein and fats
