1) The overactive intestinal immune system, the bacterias, and the virus can mistakenly trigger the immune system to attack the inner lining of the large intestine. this immune system response causes the inflammation , leading to symptoms.

2) Genetics, it also seems that the inherited genes are a factor in the development of ulcerative colitis

3)Environmental factors, some studies suggest that the environment may increase the chance of a person getting ulcerative colitis . for example drugs (anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, and oral contraceptives ), eating a certain food, stress or emotional distress .
